Back to School

Hello my dear friends!

I am sorry for not writing and telling how I am doing, but I had a very stressful time and we had a lot to do.
Where should I start…

Me photographing the kids

… First of all, since one week we have school again, so my vacation time is over. On 9th of February we started with the registration day. The children had to fill out some applications and then they had to stand in front of a camera for their ID-Cards. The ID-Card is something special in India, because the boys need it for traveling; otherwise the police would think they are terrorists. Another thing is, it takes a really long time until the students finally get their ID-Cards, because somebody needs to do it voluntarily. For us it is normal to have a student ID-Card when you go to school, but for the Indian students it is something special.

At learning

…Secondly, we teachers have a new lesson plan. It sounds weird and at the beginning it was weird, but the lesson plan helps us to overview the weeks so we can see how far we got until we will leave. To be honest at first I didn’t like it, but now I think it is actually very nice, because you prepare your class a little bit more into detail – and so it becomes more creative and it is also easier to include the bible or God into the classes. For example, I was talking once about the ocean. I asked the kids which story’s they know from the bible. When we started talking, we could almost not stop and it was a very good experience, to share and talk about the bible. The other reason, why this new lesson plan is useful is, because it is easier for the new teacher to see, what you did so far, where you stopped and how you organized your class.
…Thirdly there is another new thing is: That we have a new class and the kids are very adorable. However there is one student who cannot speak English, so sometimes it is hard to teach him. But now he is getting better in speaking, understanding and writing English so I hope that he can stay in this school.

SO: The first week of school was very nice and I enjoyed it a lot. Sometimes it was a little bit stressful and I was really tired, but all in all it was good. I enjoy teaching the kids and my goal is before I leave to teach and explain as much as possible. So that they are ready for their exams.
Soon the summer will start and this means hot temperature. I always tell the kids that it is so hot (28 °) but they always tell me: Miss, this is nothing, it will get worse. So I think when I come back to Austria I will have a little temperature shock.

All in all, I have five weeks left here, before I come back home and I will enjoy every day and every moment with the kids. But I am also looking forward to see my family and my friends again. Also I am looking forward to my next journey – it is already everything planned. But I will tell you more about it later.

See you soon,
Miss Ellis
