"Everything begins with a desire." Nelly Sachs

The last days

Hello my friends

Sorry that i write so late, but the last days were very stressful and I had no time to write this post.

So.. where to begin?

The last Sabbath was GYD (Global Youth Day). For us young people this was the call for an outreach. We divided up into five groups and went from neighbour to neighbour and prayed with them and sang for them. Some of them were very touched and cried. Actually we wanted to do that until five oClock but the weather said no. As soon as the first drops of the rain fell down we turned home. After five Minutes it rained so heavily that we had to search for a shelter.

A little wet ;P

When we found one it even begin to hail. The kids searched for the biggest ones and ate them. All this was enduring proximately 45 minutes. After that we continued our way home. At home I had to realise that my room and even my bed was a little wet. So what to do? I put on the gas stove and dried every thing.. me included. It worked and I had a dry bed to sleep in.

Me at work

Sunday was a very stressful day, because at the evening before we got the message that the test in informatics for the tenth grade is on Monday. The problem? We thought it is the last test, so the kids haven’t learned anything. The good thing in this bad situation was, it was only the practical test. So we as teachers sat together and created a plan for Sunday. At the morning I gave individual lessons in creating a presentation and at noon I had to prepare other tests and lessons and at the evening we had youth prayer week.

and on the way

On Monday I and two other teachers and the tenth grade went to Tura for the tests. At 11 oClock we went to the main road to get public cars. At this time it is really difficult to get cars so we had to wait some time. After half an hour I and two pupils got a car and drove. We thought that the others were coming right after us. As we arrived, we had to find out that:

  • The remaining kids were sitting in the car only since half an hour (the way from Dolongree to Tura needs at least 2 hours)
  • The two teachers were controlled by the police and one of them hasent his papers with him. So the had to go to the police station. Luckily the could go soon, but they had to bring the papers at the next day. The problem was, if the police would find out, that they are teachers, they wouldn’t be allowed to go to India at anytime.

Celebrating the passed test

Finally and thank God the kids were in time in Tura and had no problem to write their test. After 3 hours we met them and everyone passed the test very well. I am so proud on my pupils.
To celebrate that, we gave the Kids fruits, juices and Austrian chocolate. Around nine oClock we arrived back at the school and I fell into my bed.

Some good news from this week. We have a teacher who will continue the subjects from me. Muthu, a former student, is very good in informatics and so he will take over the lessons at Friday. Till then he will help me with:

  • grading
  • preparing lessons
  • holding lessons
  • writing tests

So I will have more time to spent with the kids and I can do the last things. All this happened the last week and I hope I haven’t forgotten anything.

Oh because the water problem.. At the moment they are drilling a new fountain. Although it is raining more often yet, we need water.

A nice sunset for you 😉

In six days I am flying back to Europe. I am not able to get it that the time in India is over, but as more I release that I am flying home soon as more I am enjoying the last days here with the kids.

See you soon,
Miss Ellis
